I Love the 80's

I thought I'd do this week's Memeon 2peas. Anyone who really knows me, knows I LOVE 80's music...and movies...and toys...and tv shows...alright, I just love the 80's in general. Well, except the clothes! May scrunched socks, pegged pants and florescent colored clothes never come back...

My favorite 80's songs (that I can think of right now) in no particular order:

1. Come on Eileen
2. Anything by Bon Jovi
3. Word up
4. Pour some sugar on me
5. Modern love
6. Tainted love
7. Call me
8. Angel of the morning
9. Centerfold
10. Total eclipse of the heart
11. Rock me, Amadeus
12. Mickey
13. We built this city
14. I’ve had the time of my life
15. Heaven (Warrant)
16. Toy Soldier
17. Invincible

Okay, so I'm over. Sue me. :)

My crushes:

Jon Bon Jovi

That's it. He's the only one who matters. :)

The rush hour bee

So yesterday I'm driving home from work and traffic's a bit slow. That's what I get for leaving 15 minutes late - puts me right smack in the middle of rush-hour. So I'm only going about 20 mph with my window down about 2 inches. I feel something hit the top of my head and my first thought was debris came in my window from the truck next to me (highly unlikely, I know.) So I touch the top of my head and don't feel anything and therefore don't think much of it...until I look down and see a bee on my gear shift! Okay, I have this fear of bees. Especially in enclosed spaces. I jump a little as I see it, swerving to the right and almost hitting the car next to me. (glad I wasn't going faster.) I grabbed a napkin and smooshed the bee as hard as possible, the whole time trying to not crash my car. Then I was afraid to pick up the napkin in case the bee wasn't dead. So for the rest of my drive home I was alternately looking at the road and checking to make sure the napkin hadn't moved. Then I started thinking, what if the bee was on my head and I touched it and got stung! Or, what if it landed in my jacket hood, or in my shirt or a gazillion other things.

See, I'm the girl who starts swatting her hands around when a bee is near. I will even go so far as to run away from them, even as someone calmly says "Oh don't worry, they won't sting you, just stay still and they'll leave you alone!" Sure, I'll just sit right here while it buzzes all around me. Yeah, okay. I haven't been stung by a bee in, oh, 20 years, yet I have that memory of how bad it hurt when I was, so of course I think it's going to be horribly painful. I really need to get over that.

Slacking on the blog...

So I'm not doing so well at the blog thing. I haven't updated it in a while. I feel like I haven't had anything blog-worthy to write about. Nothing exciting's going on. Just normal everyday life. Work, scrapping, family and friends, watching Michael's baseball games. I did get DMB's new CD, I like it. Still like their old stuff better. I'm now hooked on Desperate Housewives. Like I need another show to watch. That's it. My boring life. I love it.

My husband, the coach

So, my husband is a coach. Not of just one sport, or two, but 3! 8th grade football in the fall, freshman boy's basketball in the winter, and varsity baseball in the spring. Unfortunatly with our weather, he hasn't gotten to coach much lately. I took these pictures last month during a Saturday double-header - they won both games. Go Tigers! {I seriously have the hardest time getting my pictures the right size. I've given up. Sorry they're so small!!}

Here he is in action -

And here's the team after their first win of the day -

I love going to the games. Cheering for the team. Supporting him. He puts so much time and energy and love in to coaching. But coaching isn't just Michael's thing, it's mine too. We're in it together. The games, the practices, the extra work, the cookouts, the cookies, the scrapbooks, getting to know the players and their parents. It's a way of life. I am a coach's wife. And darn proud of it.

Bless the Broken Road

I love this song. You know how sometimes you hear a song and you feel like it was written just for you? That's how I felt the first time I heard "Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts. I still cry sometimes when I hear it because it's so real to me. Everything I went through, all the tears and pain and doubt, it was all worth it. It was part of God's plan. It led me to Michael.

"Bless The Broken Road"

I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

Now I'm just rolling home
Into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you.
